Help us give our children access to art and cultural institutions city-wide!

New York City is full of incredible opportunities for learning up close: seeing paintings by the masters, exploring the rare plants of the botanical gardens, seeing animals scurry and roam around our zoos. The PTA of the Locke School is raising money for getting kids outside and into hands-on learning in two ways:

For children under the age of 5, who are not allowed on DOE school buses and severely limited in how far afield they can go, we invest in the Cool Culture Family Pass. This all-inclusive access card provides our 3K, Pre-K, and Kindergarten students -- over 175 Locke School youngsters -- with free and unlimited general admission for up to 5 people (children and adults!) to ninety cultural institutions for one year! With these passes, our littles and their families can take field trips on their own. The Family Pass grants them free access to institutions they might not normally get a chance to explore due to lack of financial resources, accessibility, or awareness. And because each pass can bring up to five people, the impact of your donation is multiplied, benefitting not only each child but parents, siblings, even friends who get to tag along.

For students 5 and older, we have allocated $20-25 per child for field trips around the city. Teachers and Class Parents can approach the PTA with destinations they'd like to tie into their latest lessons. We will not only fund the trip; we'll do the logistical work of helping them book it as well.  

This year, the Cool Culture program costs $3500 for the school to enroll, which is covered by a donation of $20 per 3K, PK, and K student (at 100% participation). Since not every family can afford to contribute, we ask that you please consider sponsoring another child in your class and donating $40 or more. All additional money raised will go into the fund earmarked for older students' field trips.

Together, we can open access to thousands of dollars worth of admissions fees for both our kids and the communities who love them. Thank you for your generosity!
